Luxury Basement Family Room in Mount Royal
Why they came
This Mount Royal luxury basement (lower level) is in a Calgary heritage home. It was chilly, carved up, and to be honest, a bit depressing before we started.
Our homeowners wanted a hygge space to snuggle, play games and enjoy quiet family time. We added layers of insulation to make it snug and cozy-warm, custom light sconces, layers of wallpaper and soft fabrics to create their dream space. Mission accomplished!
How We Helped
- Replaced flooring with cozy carpet to warm the cold space.
- Added additional insulation.
- Installed contemporary custom light fixtures with clear crystal stones in a mesh box. The box is illuminated from behind creating soft indirect lighting perfect for movie night.
- Included textured wallpaper to add dimension and interest to the walls.
- Furnishings are large, plush, and cozy for movie watching marathons.
- We outfitted the relaxation lounge room with a luxury leather chase and built-in open shelving to display only the artifacts that bring peace and calm.
